Nader M. Kalkhoran
President & CEO
Nader is a business executive and technology expert with over thirty years of experience in the fields of medical devices, biotechnology, optoelectronics, and renewable energy. His skill set includes Research and Development. Business Development, Contract Negotiations, Sales & Marketing, and Strategic Planning & Sourcing. He is recognized as a strategic business leader with the ability to improve quality, service, sales, and profitability in highly regulated and fast-paced complex business environments. He has expertise in solving compliance problems, implementing effective and efficient quality management systems, and launching high quality products.
Before founding Kalnar Technologies, he was VP of Business & Technology Development at Implant Surfaces (2022-2024), VP of Business Development & Global Sales at N2 Biomedical/Precision Coating (2015-2022), and prior to that, he served as EVP of Optoelectronics (2012-2015), VP of Business Development (2007-2012), VP of R&D (2000-2007), and Director of Advanced Technology at Spire Corporation. While at Spire, he provided strategic planning advice to the CEO and was instrumental in establishing numerous game-changing and profitable business initiatives that lead to the rapid growth of the company in diverse industries of Medical Devices, Aerospace & Defense, and Renewable Energy. While at Spire and N2 Biomedical, he developed several revolutionary surface technologies, including nano-structured titanium and mesoporous titanium oxide coatings for enhanced osseointegration and reduced infection for spinal and orthopedic implants, vacuum-based interferometric color-coatings for all metal alloy types, silicon nanostructures for neural electrode applications and biosensors, as well as detectors, LEDs, lasers, and other optoelectronic devices using Groups IV, III-V, and II-VI epitaxial semiconducting materials. Nader holds 10 issued patents and has published over 50 reviewed articles in various scientific journals. He holds BSEE & MSEE degrees from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.
Thomas J. Webster, PhD
Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Webster has been instrumental in forming over a dozen companies who have numerous FDA approved medical products currently improving human health in over 20,000 patients. His technology is also being used in commercial products to improve sustainability and renewable energy. He is currently helping those companies and serves as a professor at Brown University, Saveetha University, Vellore Institute of Technology, UFPI, and others.
Dr. Webster’s (H index: 122; Google Scholar) degrees are in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh (B.S., 1995; USA) and in biomedical engineering from RPI (Ph.D., 2000; USA). He has served as a professor at Purdue (2000-2005), Brown (2005-2012), and Northeastern (2012-2021, serving as Chemical Engineering Department Chair from 2012 – 2019) Universities. Dr. Webster has numerous awards including: 2020, World Top 2% Scientist by Citations (PLOS); 2020, SCOPUS Highly Cited Research (Top 1% Materials Science and Mixed Fields); 2021, Clarivate Top 0.1% Most Influential Researchers (Pharmacology and Toxicology); 2022, Best Materials Science Scientist by Citations (Research.com); and is a fellow of over 8 societies. Dr. Webster is a former President of the U.S. Society for Biomaterials and has over 1,350 publications to his credit with over 55,000 citations. He was recently nominated for the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Prof. Webster also recently formed a fund to support Nigerian student research opportunities in the U.S.
